What do we have here? It seems that i’m in a new environment. Getting out of the usual fast food chains. I’m in a Restaurant but not the usual steaks, burgers etc. thing that i usually go to. Welcome to MEY LIN. Obviously you already have an idea with what kind of restaurant it is.
If you don’t get what i’m trying to say, Mey Lin is a home style Chinese Restaurant that caters authentic Chinese foods.
PLACE :
Very classy, The ambiance here is slight intimidating.
As you can see, People that eat here are professionals, high statuses in life. After a hard days of work they come here to eat good food. Basically, that is the trademark of Chinese Restaurants, Filipino can easily adopt and appreciate the brand of foods that they offer.

Before we go further, this experience would not be possible without the help of a friend. Lhen, is about to leave the country again but before that she invited us to eat out first and to have bonding and a little chit chat regarding life. And not to mention that she introduced us to her boyfriend, Ehem excuse me if i have to say this also, Lhen, was my ex. Who have taught that ex lovers won’t end up as good friends? That’s why i don’t belive in the saying that “Frineds can be Lovers but Lovers can’t be Friends.” That’s not true! We are a living proof of that saying. Okay let’s go back to business enough of that cheesiness.
I can’t give you the exact names of what we ordered because i am not in the position to look at the menu and say what i want.
Here are the foods that we ordered :

Another outstanding drink. Iced Tea but not the usual Iced Tea that is served in other Restos. Or maybe it’s just me? i’m just complicating it’s taste. But it’s really good i swear.
TASTE :
Like what I’ve said a while ago, Chinese foods are easy to appreciate because of the wide audience that it can capture. From mass, middle class to rich people. Everybody loves Chinese foods. Let’s give Mey Lin a round of applause. Again thanks to Lhen for the treat, This is what you call Lhensanity… hehehe…
VERDICT :
Just look at that faces, You can already tell if we enjoyed our meal. After a year or two i hope Lhen will treat us again here… LOL…
The final score will be 9/10. Why 9? Because i’m reserving the last point when i come back. winks.
BURGOO, Promenade Greenhills
The history of this first stew originated in Kentucky, USA. During the 17th century , Burgoo was prepared mixing different meat that includes goat, squirrel, deer or any other game caught during the day and different vegetables , herbs and spices. At that time , Burgoo took all of 20-30 hours to prepare and cook . Our version is somewhat similar except now it cooks faster than the original using top choice of beef, pork and poultry . We guarantee you to the top quality of this extra ordinary dish. To see is to believe. Order it and enjoy!

Burgoo is an American family casual dining restaurant that offers quality food, legendary service, value for money and cleanliness . It is our goal to serve American food, American size in an American way. Yes, Burgoo does have all the essentials that make up a typical American place-all American burgers, and sandwiches great meals in huge servings, sumptuous pastas, pizzas overloaded with toppings, hearty stews , freshly tossed salads, tender and hot off the grill steaks, juicy barbecues , tasty chicken and seafood grills, sinfully delicious desserts etc. The restaurant’s comfortable casual dining ambience adds character to the place with its elegant interior , charming bar and open kitchen , that’s familiar to all nine branches.
For me this day is a double whammy, i achieved eating at 2 different food outlets that I’ve been targeting for so long thanks for the help of my friend Vianca for asking me out and eventually treating me for mirienda as a part of her balikbayan promise. After a long walk and discussion on where to eat we landed at BURGOO.
PLACE :
As we enter the vicinity, we found just a couple of people eating, maybe because it’s an odd day why there are few customers. We find the place very neat though and relaxing as well.

This is the first time i experienced that when you ask for your order, the waiter will write their name and your name on the table. And i find it untidy.
MENU :
Like how long we discussed on where to eat, that was also how long it took us to pick for what to eat, Having a hard time to decide… I can’t decide for myself because i am not the one who will going to pay.
But in the end we both agreed that this two meals are good for us already.
PIZZA SAMPLER :
Combination of four different pizza flavors of your choice. Regular P475.00.
This is how i ranked it from the best to the least that i liked:
SHRIMP ARRABIATTA :
Fresh shrimps, mushrooms, tomatoes, basil and chill in vodka sauce. Regular P295.00.

BOTTOMLESS LEMONADE :
This lemonade is one of a kind, I don’t know how they did this but it’s not the typical lemonade juice that you could think of. So refreshing, In fact if i could remember it right, We had 6 glasses each, 12 glasses combined.

TASTE :
We both agreed with the so-so taste, Not that bad and not that good. Maybe we ordered the wrong meal after all.
VERDICT :
It’s always a welcoming experience to try out new food outlets but i guess there is no new here. It’s just the matter of the name of the Resto. Sometimes, names can be deceiving. If you want to impress a girl you can bring her here but if you are a practical person like me, Maybe you could change your mind and look for something cheaper but not disregarding the quality of food that you’ll get from that Resto.
I still wanna try their burger and steak meals. For the meantime i’ll give it a 7/10.
Yahoo! the long wait is over! I think it’s about time that i should really take this opportunity of tasting one of the most in demand drink in the Metro. The ever popular Milk Tea that originated in China. Here is one of the pioneers that introduced the Milk Tea craze, HAPPY LEMON.
HAPPY LEMON, Promenade Greenhills.
Every Sunday me and my family always go to Greenhills to have mass but i don’t have the chance to try Happy Lemon even though i am craving for it that much because after having mass we go home immediately.
Then yesterday a friend of mine ask me out to do some catch up at Greenhills, After walking from Santolan MRT station, I already made a decision that i will go straight to Happy Lemon because i am damn thirsty. I ask my friend to just meet me here so that i could experience the vibes of this milk tea madness.
As you can see many people are enjoying their stay.
PLACE :
I observed that the majority of their customers are teenagers and highly sociable people. Ambiance is very hippy and peaceful.

As you can see there’s a lot of variants to choose from. Different kinds of mixes that will surely blow your mind. Prices are not that bad very attainable.
GREEN TEA WITH ROCK SALT AND CHEESE :
“Very interesting drink. This smiling logo really sticks to my mind. A happy face with a hair of lemon. What the!
After choosing from a list, i ended with the combination of Salt and Cheese! How about that for a newbie!

TASTE :
I can’t imagine nor describe the exact taste but for sure my tongue really appreciated it’s greatness. All praises! Yummy! Wow! Delicious! Bravo! Mama Mia! What else can i say? i was very impressed.

VERDICT :
Whenever i use this hand sign, you already know what’s my grade. No wonder the public is taking their time and giving much patience to fall in long lines just to have a crack at this Milk Tea thingy.
It deserves all it’s hype because the taste can back it up. Now i know why coffee shops are so worried about this Milk Tea franchises.
I promise i will probably go back, not everyday but every time i’ll have a chance i will.
10/10 is my final grade.
To be fair and honest i was shocked with the result, I even thought Chief Justice Corona will be acquitted with a vote of 8-15, And i also predicted that the result will go down the wire 16-7 in favor of conviction. Because i know there are still Senators out there who are still allied with the Former President GMA but thank God they voted for the right decision.

RED RIBBON : BUTTER MAMON
Soft, golden crown-like chiffon made with just the right heavenly sweetness and moisture that delicately melts in your mouth.
Since i love Mamons, In fact i already featured Monde’s Mamon and now i am featuring RED RIBBON’S BUTTER MAMON. I knew about the product from it’s TVC and after seeing it i already listed it to my must buy list.
The opportunity was given to me when i was traveling to Quezon province and i am looking for something to bring as my baon, Luckily there is a Red Ribbon branch in SM LUCENA.
The tag line of the Mamon is “Butter goodness like no other”. Yes the mamon was very tasty the butter in top of it matters most, without it the mamon will be tasteless.
TASTE :
If your question is: Is it delicious? The answer is yes! But the only problem i see is the mamon is too soft and i really mean soft. For me it’s like chewing a cotton candy already. And the thing i hate more is the butter on top is not well established. Wrapped with plastic the tendency is the butter sticks to the plastic and when you are about to eat it the butter is already gone beacuse it all sticked in the plastic.
VERDICT :
Though i find it very delicious, i can’t give it a good grade because we are talking about quality and quantity already and i think in this aspect they failed to deliver.
There is still room for an improvement.
A grade of 7/10.
NBA PLAYOFFS (road to the championship)
Before there was 16 teams battling it out, Now only 4 teams left fighting for a chance to enter the NBA FINALS and eventually win the CHAMPIONSHIP.
Both series is very interesting, As a matter of fact it’s the war between the leagues BEST BIG 3’s. Who will you pick? Youth or experience?
EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS :
It’s the rejuvenated BOSTON CELTICS against the highly touted MIAMI HEAT. The odds are in both teams but the pressure is with the HEAT especially to the trio of Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh. Everybody is expecting them to win this series after they bullied their way to the East Finals beating the resilient INDIANA PACERS to a 4-2 record.
On the other hand the CELTICS had a hard time disposing the crappy PHILADELPHIA 76ers after they’ve been stretch to the limit via a defensive Game 7 win. When almost everyone taught that Philly is up to an upset but the group stayed together with Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen leading the way.
These team doesn’t like each other. Nemesis is the right term for it.
I am rooting for the CELTICS to win the series even though i know that they’ll have a hard time. I don’t know if they’re tired after that exciting series but i am really hoping that they could still get it done.
The 3 superstars is in the twilight of their career. It’s wonderful to see that they can still compete against the young superstars. Bench support will be very vital for their ambition to go the next level but with Rajon Rondo up to the challenge to support his big 3, Miami can’t be complacent against this dangerous team.
FEARLESS FORECAST : CELTICS in 7.
WESTERN CONFERENCE FINALS :
The streaking SAN ANTONIO SPURS versus the powerhouse OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER. Basic basketball against Athleticism. In this series all the pressure is on the young THUNDER team after dismantling Kobe Bryant’s LA LAKERS to a 4-1 victory. Everyone is already assuming that they are the right team to face Miami for the championship.
On the other hand nobody is even talking about the SPURS after they swept the lonely UTAH JAZZ and proving Chris Paul and his LA CLIPPERS that there is no shortcuts in going all the way. Actually, they won 18 straight if i am not mistaken from the regular season up to the Playoffs, Such an incredible run.
People say that Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are old warriors and they will only be humiliated by Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and James Harden. Yes you red it right this will be the match up, the past will try to prove to the present that there is no other way to go up but to face the best.
The THUNDER can surely beat the SPURS off the dribble but the SPURS will surely beat the THUNDER with crisp passing.
I am proudly rooting for the old fundamentals, I always believe that team ball will always win against a team who strives with isolation plays. Like the East series this will boil down to who has a deeper bench.

NESCAFE CAN : LATTE AND MOCHA
Presenting my newest official must buy drink whenever i go to the supermarket. I admit i am a coffee aficionado almost all types of coffee i don’t hesitate to drink. That’s what you call addiction at it’s finest.
Been doing groceries for such a long time but i don’t really have the chance to scan the canned drinks because i usually go to the basic necessities. Then one time I’m looking for something that i’ll drink to accompany me while watching my favorite t.v. program such the PBA and NBA. then i saw these, And now i ended craving for more. I must say i will buy a box of it next time so that i’ll have a lot of stocks in our frig.
LATTE - is a cold and delicious coffee treat in a convenient ready-to-drink format. Now, you can indulge in the premium and milkier taste of cafe quality coffee wherever you are. It’s like having your own cafe in can.
MOCHA - is a cold and sweet coffee treat with a hint of chocolate packed in a convenient ready-to-drink format. Now, you can indulge in the premium taste of cafe quality coffee wherever you are. It’s like having your own cafe in a can.
TASTE :
The only difference between the two is Mocha is more sweeter than Latte because of it’s chocolate element but it’s coffee taste is never left out. You can be assured that when you drink this you will enjoy it’s coffee taste.
VERDICT :
It’s so obvious, i definitely loved it’s taste. No questions asked. I will buy this time and time again.
Your guess is is similar to mine. a grade of 10/10.
CORNETTO DISC :
After seeing this commercial from SELECTA, HEY DAYDREAMER by SOMEDAY DREAM. Kinda cheesy but it automatically tickled my imagination and telling myself that i should try this CORNETTO DISC.
“You and me, sitting on a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G…”
The jingle was too catchy. So, after a long period of time finally, i have the crack to taste this mouth watering ice cream in cone. For P32.00 you can enjoy this one of a kind treat from Selecta. And i chose the Chocolate flavor, who hates chocolates anyway.
TASTE :
Yummy chocolate sauce and Nutty chocolate disc is it’s best asset. So delicious and so sweet.
VERDICT :
What i hate about it is “It melts in my hands not in my mouth”. And i find its cone very small to hold up its ice cream. I hope they adjust on it’s cone size.
I’ll give it a decent grade of 8/10.
FYI : I remember my pal Peter said to one of his status in Facebook. “Wag kayo maniniwala sa Cornetto Disc, nung kinain ko di naman kumakanta mag isa eh.” I laughed about it but that was one of the turning point why i tried this out as well.
Big Better Burgers, located SM North Edsa ANNEX
The boys are out again and we are back with our old ways… After playing a hard fought game of Street Fighter 4, We found ourselves starving. While walking around the mall we saw this. BIG BETTER BURGERS, the name itself made us intrigue because it’s very catchy. With no hesitations, we invaded it immediately.

“The place was quite small and very simple. Upon entering you’ll be comfortable immediately, knowing that you are about to eat something worthy.

We all agreed that the taste is good, you can see in our facial expressions and how we handled our meal.
The thing that we observed, the bun is very soft, It’s similar to a “pandisal” a bigger version of it.
VERDICT :
Thumbs up! We already scheduled when to come back and planned to bring our fellas with us.
Great experience, Great job for a new food chain in the biz. See you next week!

AMERICAN IDOL 2012
I still can’t get over with what happened to the outcome of this contest. Can somebody slap me please! Jessica Sanchez lost? Are you sure? Phillip Phillips won the title? Is that a joke or what? What a turn of events. Oh well there’s nothing we can do about it, It’s over. America voted for their heart rub. What really happened there is GOOD LOOKS over TALENT. Sad reality isn’t it?
Well still i would like to congratulate Jessica Sanchez for going that far, runner-up is such an insult but despite that she accepted it with all humility. The whole Philippines is so proud of you. They have their new American Idol but we have the new World Idol and that’s a FACT.
For me here are some of the things why Jessica was robbed of the crown:
- She is not a pure American.
- Girl teenagers voted for looks.
- Wrong choice of piece for her final song.
- The production value of Phillip’s last song was so bias. With those drums and back up singers in it.
- Sympathy vote for the guitar man because he is dealing with some sort of ailment.
- The trend of winners lately are all boys and ironically they all play the guitar.
But history says that not all winners did well in their careers and those who did not win are the ones who made it big.
I am sorry Mr. Phillips, I know you can sing and you have that some kind of attitude when you perform but for me your style is very common. It’s like watching a gig in a small bar in the Metro.
Jessica, the whole nation was behind you, sorry our votes were not enough to make you win. I don’t understand why other Filipinos instead of supporting you they supported your counterpart. Shame on you guys! You should be proud of your own blood. Oh well some people really sucks.
Again, for me you are the winner! No single doubt about that. Hope you could come over and visit our homeland.
Now here is the highlight of the Finale. Tell me who really won the competition. And I Am Telling You this world class performance says it all.
